The Jarrold book from which this walk comes, and onto another quiet lane into the village of Withington. I was here less than a month back, having a pint and a ploughman’s lunch at The Mill Inn. And this is exactly what I do now, although I’m ten minutes too early for lunchtime so I go have a nosey inside the church. From Withington, a small but beautiful Cotswold village, the walk initially stays close to the River Coln and then heads through woodland to the Roman villa at Chedworth, one of the most extensive and complete in England. It has almost a mile of intact walls, some excellent mosaics and an original latrine in quite good working order!
